The scan of my left shoulder showed that I have a complete supraspinatus tear. What that means (A supraspinatus tear is a rupture or tear of the supraspinatus tendon, which is part of the rotator cuff in the shoulder. This tendon connects the supraspinatus muscle to the humerus (upper arm bone). Tears can be partial or full-thickness and are a common cause of shoulder pain.)
I also have a almost complete infraspinatus tear, what that
means An infraspinatus tear is a type of rotator cuff injury where the
tendon of the infraspinatus muscle, located on the back of the shoulder blade,
is damaged, either partially or completely separating from the humerus (upper
arm bone). This can occur due to sudden injury, like a fall, or gradually
through repetitive motions or age-related degeneration.
Also it showed a Subscapularis tendinopathy which means condition where the subscapularis
tendon, a key rotator cuff muscle in the shoulder, is damaged or
degenerated. This can lead to pain, weakness, and limited range of motion
in the shoulder. It's often caused by overuse, aging, muscle imbalances,
or trauma. Treatment typically involves conservative measures like rest,
physical therapy, and pain management.
Lastly I have bursitis.
Oh boy - I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder a couple of years ago. My arm works like new but it takes about a year of recovery. My left shoulder also needs surgery but I’m holding out. It doesn’t pain me like the other did. Are you going to have surgery?
ReplyDeleteI have been referred for pyhsio after that we will see
DeleteI get anxious just reading your reports, but I know nothing about the topic. My husband, on the other hand, started radiology in the early 1970s and finds it fascinating. If the rotator cuff tendon is torn, just send the X rays here via my email (helenw@bigpond.net.au). Or come for a visit :)
ReplyDeleteYeah it sounds bad reading the reports we will see how the physio goes
DeleteOMGosh! That sounds awful! I hope it heals well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read this. Is there anything they want you to do? Are you in pain? Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI do have pain in the arm and limited movement and strength.
DeleteI'm sorry about your shoulder issues. So painful! My son-in-law is a shoulder surgeon. I'm glad so far you don't need surgery. It's a big recovery. Hoping the pt and rest can help. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI also hope it doesn't come to that
