Sharing my world

Hi everyone I am taking part in sharing my world again here are this week’s questions and answers, which I found here: https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2026/06/15/sharing-my-world-15th-june-2026/

Here are this week’s questions:

Food prices are starting to rocket again here in the UK and the price of fresh tomatoes has made me glad we are growing our own this year!

1. What food item has gone up out of all proportion in your opinion over the last year?

Tomatoes according to hubby

2. When Covid hit in 2020, did you get caught without vital provisions, or were you able to buy what you needed when you needed it?

Yeah I suddenly found myself short of toilet paper but thankfully because my brother worked on the backdock of a large store he was able to put a large pack aside for me other then that all was good.

3.  What food item was popular when you were a child that no longer seems to be readily available now?

Would have to be the Triple Treat ice cream, I loved those

4.  Do you/your partner shop to a budget, do a big shop once a month and then small top ups or buy what you need as and when necessary?

I do a weekly shop and yeah I have a budget which is why I shop at both major supermarkets.

Gratitude:

Sunday Stealing

Welcome to Sunday Stealing. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves!

This week's meme is inspired by Melanie at This Ain't New York. We're indulging in a little retail therapy. Tell us what you would pick up at each stop.

Shopping Day. What's on your shopping list from ....

1. Target or Walmart, or another superstore?

Neither since I am in Australia

2. Dollar Tree or Dollar General, or pound stretcher/99p store?

Don’t have these stores but we do have the Reject Shop and Hot Bargain which we call the cheap shops, I like shopping at both of these.

3. Best Buy or any other electronics/appliance store?

Here the big 2 are Harvy Norman and The Good Guys and I prefer The Good Guys

4. Book/music store?

Book store I like wondering around them.

Bonus question! Where do you want to stop for lunch?

I prefer to eat at home so would buy something like a pie or sausage roll or like yesterday I got a chicken and mayo roll from Henny Penny which is like KFC but nicer

Another Hodgepodge

Hi everyone, here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-659.html

1. Summer's here!  In the northern hemisphere anyway. If you're in the southern hemisphere substitute winter for the word summer. What do you love most about summer? What's your biggest summer pet peeve?

I love that we have lovely warm winter days, I don’t like it when it’s really cold.

2. What song always reminds you of summer?

Summer of 69

3. What's something you remember about your childhood summers? Do you think kids today get to enjoy summer the way you did as a child? Elaborate.

Just spending all day outside on the weekends, I’m not sure kids today have as much fun as we did.

4. We celebrate Fathers Day on June 21st. Do you favour your dad in looks or temperament? Tell us something about your dad. Or your husband as a dad. Or a son/son-in-law as a dad. Or your grandpa.

Father’s Day is in September here, yes I have dad’s short temper but like my mum in how fast I get over things. My dad seemed to be able to fix anything.

5. Let's wrap up with a summer this or that-

  • flip flops or sandals Thongs aka Flip Flops
  • beach or pool Pool
  • watermelon or peaches Watermelon
  • shorts or sundress Shorts
  • iced coffee or ice-cold lemonade Lemonade as in Sprite
  • amusement park or water park

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Tuesday 4

Welcome once again to  Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4

Here are this week's questions

Welcome back to another Tuesday 4 in honour of Toni Taddeo it's founder.

What are the good points to living in your town? Could you interest us in moving there?

I live in a suburb of Lake Macquarie and don’t think of it as a town, I like living here as the crime rate is moderate it happens but I feel safe enough to wake up in the morning open the doors and leave them opened all day or closed but not locked during the day.

Are the things you need convenient to your home? (shopping, library, schools, entertainment?)

Yeah, I am only a 10-minute walk from the lake and shops as well as the primary school and the high school.

Did you choose your town, or did you just end up there?

We live in public housing, and this is where we ended up way back in May 1988.

Is your town known for any special foods, activities, places or people?

Nope can’t think of anything

Sharing my world

Hi everyone I am taking part in sharing my world again here are this week’s questions and answers, which I found here: https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2026/06/15/sharing-my-world-15th-june-2026/

Here are this week’s questions:

1.  When buying a new home appliance, are you offered optional insurance cover (for additional cost) and if so do you take

it?
Here is Australia we get offered an extended warranty and sometimes Tim & I have taken it but generally not.

2.  When purchasing something for the home, like a new TV, freezer, cooker, carpets, etc, do you pay outright or take terms?

Now days we pay outright, when we were younger we would get it on an interest free loan, which we always paid off within the interest free term.

3.  What is the worst purchase for the home you can remember?

I have no idea, Tim would say the solar panels but I don’t agree.

4.  For your family room/lounge, do you prefer couches, easy chairs, recliners or a mixture of seating arrangements.

I prefer a recliner Tim prefers a lounge or what some call a couch.

Gratitude: Courtesy of Cheryl this week.

A slow hodgepodge

Hi everyone, here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-658.html

1 June 17th, 1994 was the day of the infamous O.J. Simpson car chase. What were you doing in 1994? I'm guessing somebody is going to tell me they weren't born yet but that's part of the fun of the Hodgepodge. Lots of generations are represented here.

What was I doing back in 1994, I have no idea, nothing special I was just mum looking after 3 daughters, I do remember seeing the car chase on the telly.

2. What's your favorite summer salad that isn't the traditional tossed green lettuce kind of salad? Do you like fresh fruit in a salad (other than in a fruit salad of course)?

I am not a fan of salads, but I do really like fruit salad

3. Is chivalry dead? Should it be?

No not dead but dying, should it be I don’t think so

4. Would you rather spend a week of your summer vacation in Hawaii or Alaska? Have you ever been to either? Are they two places you really would like to see? How do you feel about 'Hawaiian pizza' aka pineapple on a pizza? Have you ever eaten Baked Alaska?

I have been to Hawaii and I would like to go to Alaska but doubt I will ever get there, I love pineapple on my pizza, I think it is strange not liking it.

5. World Cup play is happening now...are you interested? Watching any matches? Did you or your children play soccer/futbol? There are eleven US cities hosting matches-

-Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York with the stadium in NJ, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle along with  three cities in Mexico (Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey) and two in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver)-

You get free tickets to one of these matches. Which city do you choose? Tell us why.

Nope not interested

I would choose going to Canada

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Try to embrace the stillness in the morning, before the day starts and the world is holding its breath, slowly the light drifts in and the day starts.

A flowerily hodgepodge

Hi everyone, here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-657.html

How would you define 'the good life'?

To me it is that part of your life that you remember with joy and laughter

What's the most used app on your phone (and are you proud of that)?

My banking app, I don’t do a lot on my phone

'Every rose has it's thorn', 'everything's coming up roses', 'looking through rose-colored glasses', 'it's no bed of roses' or 'stop and smell the roses'...which rose idiom best relates to something in your life currently. Explain.

“Every rose has it’s thorn” because with Parkingson’s even a good day will have unexpected struggles.

How do you feel about floral flavourings in food or drink (rose, hibiscus, elderflower, lavender)?

Not a fan of it although until a few years ago I had never heard of using them, I have tried a couple things with lavender in and didn’t like them much.

Over the course of your life what have you probably spent more time pondering than anything else?

I don’t know, I am sure there must have been something, but I can’t think of anything right now

Insert your own random thought here.

Today I am grateful for the wonder of life and the small things that make everyday life, special, a message from a grandchild, an unexpected hug from my husband, things like that.

If you were a minor inconvenience, which one would you be?

A stone in your shoe

If you came with instructions, what part would people ignore first?

The handle with care written in large letters on the first page

Which everyday annoyance best captures your overall personality vibe?

That buffering you can get when your computer is trying to load something

The first hodgepodge for June

Hi everyone, here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-656.html

1.What's something you find extremely difficult that most people would say is simple?

Eating soup without spilling it all over myself

2.  "And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow fast in movies I  had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer."

~F. Scott Fitzgerald

Nope, the change in seasons don’t have much effect on me at all

Does the season of summer make you feel this way? Elaborate.

3. Pickles. Love 'em or no thank you? What's your favorite type of pickle? What's something you eat that definitely needs a pickle added?

I do not like them in any way shape or form

4. Tis the season...do you know any June brides? Are there any weddings on your summer calendar? What's your favorite movie wedding?

Nope no June brides around me but here June is the start of Summer, I can’t even think of a wedding movie.

5. June 1st is/was National Say Something Nice Day...say something nice here.

Something nice let me think, those bloggers who take the time and effort to prepare these questions and similar questions on other blogs are wonderful, but blogland has many wonderful people in it.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

If you are not happy with life at this time, I hope one day soon that will change and you realise that happiness isn’t material possessions or how much money you have. It is being kind to others and animals, not judging people as there is only one true judge. Happiness comes from within and knowing you have a good heart and treat people as you would like them to treat you.
