Remarkable Sister

Sister, you are one of the most remarkable women I know.

You make the most of each day and spread comfort, kindness and laughter where you go. You are not embarrassed to let those close to you envelop you in their friendship and love. You seek beauty in your surroundings. You look for goodness in everyone you meet.

You inspire others with your words any your action, providing what a person needs even when they don’t ask for it. You never feel sorry for yourself. You maintain your faith and hold you head high.

You are an amazing person and an incredible sister. You are so much more to those around you than you could ever imagine, and you are appreciated and loved deeply for who you are.

The world is a better place because you are here, those of us who have the honour to be part of your life are truly blessed.

A grill cheese hodgepodge

Hi everyone, here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-649.html

Big week in the US of A...do you do your own taxes? What's something you've found 'taxing' lately?

Dealing with people in general

When it comes to travel are you a last-minute packer or a lay it all out a week in advance type? Do you struggle to pack light? Share a packing tip that has worked for you.

More a last-minute packer but a week before I make a list of what to pack.

April is National Grilled Cheese Month. Hmmm...who knew it got its own month? Do you like a grilled cheese sandwich? What ingredient do you add to take yours to the next level?

Yesh often but we call it a cheese toastie

There's a well known quote that says-

'A ship in the harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are built for." John A. Shedd

Is constant growth necessary or do you think it's more important to prioritize stability and peace in your life?

I think growth is necessary as things change is part of life and not growing and changing isn’t good.

Let's wrap this up with a fun spring this or that-

  • daffodils or tulips Daffodils
  • lemonade or iced tea Lemonade
  • gardening or hiking Neither
  • ladybugs or butterflies Butterflies
  • umbrella or raincoat Raincoat
  • floral patterns or polka dots Floral patterns

Insert your own random thought here.

Hope is the quiet, steady rhythm of a heart that refuses to stop. It isn’t a grand promise that things will be easy; it is simply the choice to believe that what is coming is worth the wait. It is the small, persistent light that stays on in the window, even when you aren’t quite ready to open the door.”

An eggy hodgepodge

Hi everyone, here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-648.html

Egg on your face, putting all your eggs in one basket, a good egg, walk on eggshells, nest egg, or a tough egg to crack...which eggy idiom currently applies to your life in some way? Explain

Well lately I have times when I am walking on eggshells around my husband when it comes to talking about our grandchild Sam and some people have told me that I am a good egg.

April 7th is National Beer Day...are you a beer drinker? If so do you have a favorite? Beer battered fish, beer bread, beer can chicken, beer brats...which one sounds good to you? Have you made any of these?

I do not like beer, I do like beer batter chips though

Do you have siblings? What's the best thing about being your sibling? If you don't have siblings, what would you say are the pros and cons of being an only child?

Year I have four siblings, when it comes to what’s the best thing about being my sibling, I have no idea.

How do you feel about floral scents in products? Do you have a favorite?

I have nothing against them, don’t give them any thought

What's one thing in your home that begins with the letter G that you would say is a keeper, something you'll hold on to? Tell us why.

I can’t think of anything beginning with G, oh hang on glasses begin with G and they are something I will keep.

Insert your own random thought here.

“Stop treating your own heart like a house you’re only visiting. Move in, hang the lace curtains, and light the candles just because the glow makes you feel lovely. You don’t need a reason to buy yourself the silk, brew the rose tea, or speak to your reflection with the tenderness of a best friend. You are the garden, the gardener, and the bloom all at once. Stop asking for permission to be soft with yourself and start living like the girl who finally realized her own company is the most exquisite luxury she’ll ever own.”-Unknown

Share your or my world

Hi everyone I am taking part in sharing my world again here are this week’s questions and answers, which I found here: https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2026/04/06/share-your-world-6th-april-2026/

Do you believe the chocolate used in Easter Eggs is better than other times of the year?

No, I think it’s about the same.

How many Easter Eggs did you have this year?

I received only one from the children in unit 16, not a cheap one either a Lindt chocolate bunny.

Gratitude:

April's First Hodgepodge

Hi everyone here is the latest hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2026/02/hodgepodge-questions-volume-647.html

March is rolling on out of here. Sum up your March in ten words or less.

Just another run of the mill month

Are you afraid of heights? When was the last time you found yourself dealing with a height, and did it make you nervous?

I am terrified of open heights, eclosed heights don’t both me as much, been a while since I have had to deal with heights.

What's a word you struggle to spell on a regular basis, and sometimes need to double check before writing it down? Use the word in a sentence that tells us something about your April calendar.

The word that comes to mind is apology I had to look it up in the dictionary before I wrote the damn word. I will offer an apology for my slackness during April.

Love 'em or hate 'em, with Easter comes the sweet treat known as Peeps. So... do you love 'em or hate 'em? Speaking of peeps, what's your favorite way to have chicken?

Had to think for a bit about what Peeps are, then it came to me before I turned to Google, they are not something we see much in the shops down here. The best way to eat chicken is roasted with roast or baked vegetables and gravy.

This week's Hodgepodge lands on the first day of April, which happens to be National Poetry Month. Do you like poetry?  Share a favorite line or two from one of your favorite poems. What makes this one a favorite?

Once I would have said I had no interest in poetry but the last few years that has changed when it comes to a line from a poem it would have to be, “there was movement at the station”

The poem is The Man From Snowy River by Banjo Paterson

Insert your own random thought here.

“Respect is built through actions.
Honesty is valued in silence.
Trust grows with consistency.
Loyalty comes back to those who give it.
Character speaks louder than promises.
Integrity shapes how others see you.
What you give to life, life returns.”
